“Celebrate your small wins. Only you know how far
you’ve come”

~ W. Purity

These days the energy-drain of pandemic living means that in any given moment motivation may be non-existent. Mine has only been so-so this week, but I wanted to end on a high, so here’s what I did.

I focused on the little wins…because there were a lot of those.

In this week’s video I share that perspective shift along with a little tip that can turn even the toughest week into a winning one.

Watch it below, or read the transcript that follows and let me know what you’re celebrating this week.

It’s the end of another week, and instead of crushing my to do’s I’ve been beating myself up for not accomplishing as much as I’d hoped. I’ve spent the last week or two processing the news, navigating on-going COVID restrictions, and trying to make sense of it all, and my motivation has been a bit low.

Hey, Michelle Cederberg here, pondering pandemic productivity (or lack of it) and what to do about it.

The last few weeks (alright, months) have been tough and tiring for so many of us, and our Groundhog Day existence has turned the daily grind into a serious, down and dirty, bump-and-bruise-your-butt sort of grind. Anyone else feeling tired?

But then I chose to flip the narrative on that, because even though I haven’t accomplished as much as I’d hoped, I still have a lot of wins in my week.

So, here’s my thought for a finish-strong-Friday. Today, write a list of all the things you conquered this week, all the things you’re proud of, and the moments that mattered. Here’s the clincher. Don’t hold back or undervalue your accomplishments just because they may be the same as last week. As far as I’m concerned, keeping your kids or your pets or your partner happy, safe and fed is a big deal these days. Choosing exercise over the sofa, or fresh air instead of fresh bread is a WIN!

And, celebrate the work wins too, even the small ones.

In other words, end your week on a high note as you remind yourself of the amazing, productive, getting-shit-done person you really are. That’s especially important right now during these particularly mentally and physically draining times.

While you’re at it, give some thought NOW to the ways you want to win next week. Write that down too and keep it in view over the weekend, so that when Monday comes you’ll be excited and raring to go. Then this evening pour yourself a glass of your favourite beverage, put your feet up and simply own your awesome (that’s what I’m going to be doing). Now, more than ever we need to focus on small daily victories and let that energy carry us through this. We can do this.

Share in the comments an accomplishment from this week you’re happy about. For me, it’s got to be that I made it to the personal training session I didn’t want to go to, and did the hard work I didn’t feel like doing… and actually felt better when I was done. Oh, and I did a couple of great interviews…and I got this message out… (see how this works?).
