Yup, it’s been a tough one, and during this pandemic year I’ve tossed around a lot of excuses for why I haven’t accomplished as much as I’d hoped I would … even though I accomplished a fair bit.

I’ve mourned the loss of income, travel, family visits, and that sense of normalcy I miss so much. But, it is what it is, and I don’t want to carry any regrets into the new year.

So, I for one am choosing to ditch the excuses, and seek out that silver lining. It’s there if we look hard enough. It’s been here all along.

What do you want for yourself in the year ahead, and what excuses do you need to let go of in order to get it? COVID be damned, how will you make this your best year yet?

For a little ‘excuse ditching’ inspiration I thought I would reboot this video CLASSIC from 2011. Watch the video below or read the list of excuses that follow, then square your shoulders and make a positive plan for what’s next.

I don’t have enough time.

I’ve got too many other things I need to do.

I need to eat first.

I just ate.

I have no energy.

My back hurts. My foot hurts. My shoulder hurts. My finger hurts.

I’ve got about a gazillion other things I’d rather do.

I need coffee. I need to wash my hair. I have to wash my car. I need to wash the dog.

Why so much pressure?

Too warm, too cold, when hell freezes over, soon, tomorrow, next week, next month, next year…

How about never? Is never good enough for you?

I tried it once. I won’t like it. Don’t like it. I know I will hate it.

I’m too tired. It scares me. I’m not smart enough. I don’t have the right outfit.

I’ll get to it on Monday. I don’t like Mondays. I hate Mondays!

I can’t, I’m an Aries.

It’s not me, it’s you.

No motivation. resolutions don’t work.

I don’t have the time. Too tall. Too late. Me?

Seriously! Never.

Whatever.

STOP! Are you going to let those same tired excuses keep following you through another year? What do you really want for yourself: better health, weight loss, a happier relationship, career growth? It’s yours for the taking. So this year, resolve to do it differently. Leave those excuses behind and make this YOUR year.
