“The only sense that is common in the long run, is the sense of change-and we all instinctively avoid it.”

~ E. B. White (1899 – 1985)

Don’t you think that’s true?

We’re creatures of habit. We want to be comfortable in our surroundings, competent in all we do, and in control of most things. So what’s wrong with that? Nothing really, except since change is happening around us all the time we would do well to find a healthy balance between cruise-control and driving in a new direction.

In the week ahead practice breaking from the norm. Do something you’ve been avoiding. Take a new route to and from work. Order something different at your favorite restaurant. Try something new. Test the boundaries of your resistance to change. Embrace doing it differently and explore uncommon outcomes.
