“Every artist was first an amateur.”

~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

There are two ways to look at this.

First, what are you already really good at? Give yourself kudos for all the ways you are excellent, and recognize that what you do well may not come so easily to others. Pat yourself on the back.

Second, what do you want to be better at? Don’t let lack of skill or ability stop you from trying new things and evolving out of amateur status and into excellence. If you dream it you can do it.

Embrace a mix of competence and challenge with the things you take on. Hold on to your successes and use them to empower you as you take risks and try new things. What a picture you’re painting!
