“You need to be content with small steps. That’s all life is. Small steps that you take everyday, so when you look back down the road it all adds up and you know you covered some distance.”
~ Katie Kacvinsky

Small steps add up. So quit waiting for more time, or more energy or more motivation to go big. Just begin. Remind yourself that small steps can make a big difference if you’re take them consistently. They will. Don’t overthink the task you have in front of you, or the one you’ve been procrastinating because it’s too hard. Just begin.

There’s a whole bunch of progress that’s waiting to happen, and you can get there by going small. For a 90 second, small steps nudge, watch the short video below or read the blog that follows.

In a world where ‘GO BIG OR GO HOME’ seems to epitomize success, I’m here to tell you, there’s no shame in going small.  Don’t get me wrong, sometimes you have to dig deep and go big in certain aspects of work and life – especially if you’re prepared and have the drive and capacity. But if you’re stuck, small steps are the ultimate way to push past inaction. Hey, Michelle Cederberg here with a segment I call 90 seconds to better…advising you to go small to get going.

I’m a believer in hard work. It’s important to push outside that comfort zone as much as we’re capable, because that’s where all the growth and good stuff happens. But, sometimes it’s not that easy. Even though we want what the work will bring, it can be hard to find the time, energy or motivation to get the ball rolling. So those great intentions – to exercise more, to write the book, to start the business, to create a life you love… they keep getting delayed.

We can be hard on ourselves when that keeps happening, but here’s the truth about the things that we want for ourselves but aren’t doing…It’s not the doing that’s tough, it’s getting to it. And that’s where small steps come in. If ‘GO BIG’ has you frozen, go small, so you go. If you talk yourself out of it again and again, tell yourself, “I’ll just do 10 minutes.” It may not seem like much, but 10 minutes of doing is better than the hour you were thinking about doing – with ANYTHING you want to spend more time at, and that small step will serve an important purpose.

It creates momentum. It will get you doing that thing that you’ve been putting off. And once you’re at it, you’re more likely to keep at it. THAT’S BIG.

SO, with most of the summer still ahead of you, I say redefine your goals and go small for the win. And then do it again tomorrow.
