“Start unknown, finish unforgettable.”
~ Nike ad slogan

As we head towards an eventual end to pandemic-restricted living, I think I’ll embrace the above quote to help me make the most of whatever’s coming next. Are you feeling it? In March of 2020 when everything changed, none of us knew how things would go did we? But, we squared our shoulders and did what we had to do to get through it…start unknown.

I’m guessing you surprised yourself by how resilient and resourceful you could be. I know I did. Before the pandemic I’d never really done online presenting, and I wasn’t exactly excited about the prospect. Today I can actually say I love presenting virtual keynotes, and have done close to 70 since April 2020. Curious to see my virtual set up? Watch this video for a glimpse.

From all of the highs and lows there have come some great opportunities. For me, I’m starting to book more in-person events while maintaining virtual as an option, which is so great! That’s why I love the quote because I want to make the finish of this unforgettable (whatever this has been)… and the opportunities are out there if we’re willing to do the work.

Nope, it hasn’t been easy, and we’re still riding the Corona-coaster, so we can expect a few more highs and lows yet, but I guess that’s part of life… and, what if sometimes it’s not supposed to be easy? One thing it has been is character building, and I’m going to use that to my advantage.

How about you? What are you most proud of? In what ways will you make your finish unforgettable?

Maybe it’s time to lift our eyes to the horizon and figure out how to do that? Watch the 1 minute video below (another classic that’s perfect for this message) for a little motivation to fuel your efforts…or read the transcript that follows. Start unknown, finish unforgettable. #CarpeFreakinDiem

It’s not supposed to be easy.

If you’re working toward something good, it rarely is. But change is hard…and if you want what it will bring there’s only one way to get there.

You have to do the freakin’ work. Even when it feels like work. And it often will.

The thing about jumping outside that comfort zone is that nothing out there is familiar…it’s uncomfortable. So your first instinct might be to stop, or take a step back into “Easy”.

But where has that ever gotten you?

This time, as you step into change, What will you do when it gets hard? Let’s assume stopping is not an option?

Sometimes the best thing about doing the work is that you’re doing the freakin’ work…that you’re capable of it. Because you are! The work makes you stronger. It builds confidence, courage, and resilience! The work brings progress, which will motivate you to keep going.

And that feeling once you’ve done it? AMAZING!

It’s not supposed to be easy, but hard work beats giving up, ANY DAY!
