Believe it! How we show up matters, not just for how it effects the people around us, but for how it impacts our own energy and mindset.

That’s why, as I navigate a very busy week, I’ve chosen to embrace an energy practice that’s simple to do, but not always easy to execute, and I want to share it with you.

Hey, Michelle Cederberg here in another hotel room, on another busy week of travel, thinking about energy management. Now, there are dozens of ways that we can manage our energy, from watching what we eat, to making sure we keep moving, to staying hydrated, to managing our sleep. But the one I want to talk about today is, let’s call it social energy. When you are out in the world and you walk into a space, what kind of energy do you bring into it? When you walk into a room, how does the energy in the room change?

Sometimes when we’re busy, and we’re stressed, and stretched, we don’t often pay attention to the energy that we’re carrying. It could be showing up in our face. It could be showing up in our distraction, that we’re having a tough day. And, sometimes what we need to do to manage our energy is to walk into the space with head up and eyes open, with an opportunity to smile at someone or make eye contact. This is good for the receiver, but it’s also good for the doer.

And so, as I make my way through three different cities this week, and several different airports, my goal is to walk through the day with head up and eyes open, trying to make those micro-connections that will help manage my energy in a positive way and perhaps spread a little bit of it to others as well.
